This centre has been engaged in the areas of Life Testing, Maintenance Engineering, Safety Engineering and System Reliability Studies.

The technical facilities of this centre includes equipment such as Drop Test Set Up, Durability Test facilities, Impact Test Facility, Reliability Analyser, Environmental chambers and testing facilities including facility for Bump test, Burn In Chamber, Vibration Exciter, Switch Test Machines, Corrosion test Chamber and Thermal Shock Chamber.

Some of the sponsored projects undertaken by the centre include Design & Development of Computerised Condition Monitoring System, Design and Analysis of Protective Sensor Systems, Safety Studies Information System for Safety and Accident Investigation.
