Humanities & Social Sciences Department

These departments emerged with a view to making technologists socially aware and useful citizens as well as enlightened and compassionate individuals inculcating in them the broad subjects covering economics, sociology, psychology and evaluation of socio-economic role of technology and stimulating moral and aesthetic values. English for communication, language courses in French, German and Hindi are also offered by this department. The Department organizes Tagore memorial lectures delivered by eminent speakers like Professor Nissim Ezkiel, Soumendranath Tagore, V.V.John, J.V.Narliker, M.G.K. Menon , Amlan Datta and William Radice. In keeping with its multidisciplinary character, the department carries out research in diverse areas of human interest and social concern, such as Human Resource Development, Urban and Rural Sociology, Philosophy and Literature, Environmental economics and Social Psychology.
