Physics Department
The Department of Physics at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati started functioning in the year 1995. The department currently offers two year M.Sc. program and Ph. D program. The department also offers core and science elective courses for the B. Tech students. The department has state-of-the-art B. Tech. and M.Sc. Laboratories. The department has highly active and vibrant faculty members committed to impart high quality teaching and research standards in pure and applied areas of PHYSICS and imparts training to students so that they become competent and motivated physicists / scientists. The research interests of the faculty members cover broad range of PHYSICS: Condensed Matter Physics (Experiment and Theory), Lasers and Photonics (Experiment and Theory), and Theoretical and Mathematical Physics that stipulate a collaborative work with other departments and centers in IIT.
