Humanities and Social Sciences Department

The Humanities and Social Sciences Department is a consolidated department which presently consists of four streams, namely, Economics, English, Philosophy and Psychology. Apart from its undergraduate programme which includes highly innovative syllabi, it aims to cover the inter-disciplinary areas in its Ph.D. programme.

Programme :

The focus of the English syllabi is to open up students interests in literary explorations, for developing communication skills in life situtations, with special emphasis on Literature Appreciation, Language and Phonetics. The philosophy syllabi center around modern logical analysis and in-depth study of varied philosophical discourses with emphasis on Mathematics and Philosophy, Science and Philosophy and Studies on Consciousness.

The courses in Economics at the B.Tech. level are closely related to real-life situations. The syllabi intend to broaden the students' perspective on the use of economics in everyday life and global situation, and the correlation between technology and economic development. The Psychology syllabi are designed to provide basic insight into the rudiments of psychology and organisational behaviour in modern management studies.
